Amazing Grace!
Mrs. Hedstrom is my college writing teacher at Western Baptist College in Salem, Oregon. While I was in her office one afternoon she showed me this book, and I was really touched. The words of Scripture jump off the page and hit your heart. There are different sections in the book devoted to various emotions we feel as Christians on the road of life. I ended up purchasing the book for a man in my church who's wife recently died from cancer. The section on grief was really a comfort... realizing that no matter what happens in life God will never leave nor forsake His children. This book is filled with hope, encouragement, and comfort. I give it an "A+!"

The Legend of Wappato : Chief Cassino of the Multnomahs

Historically astute, and highly recommended reading
An historical novel set in the Pacific Northwest where the Willamette and Columbia rivers meet, Donald and Marilyn Bruner's The Legend Of Wappato: Chief Cassino Of The Multnomah is the story of Native American and white cultures colliding against each other in the opening decades of the 1800s. Chief Cassino had consolidated several tribes to face the intruding threats of white fur traders and settlers when in 1824, John McLoughlin set up the Hudson's Bay Company trading post at Fort George and then another one at Fort Vancouver. Chief Cassino and McLoughlin became friends and worked together to control conflict during the settlement of the Oregon Territory. But in the winter of 1830 an epidemic swept through the native villages. The result was the near extinction of a once great Multnomah tribe from the Wappato lands. Chief Cassino survived and continued to be friends with McLoughlin for the rest of their lives. The Legend Of Wappato is superbly crafted, historically astute, and highly recommended reading.

Front Porch Tales: A Treasury of Stories Filled With Wit and Wisdom

Sometimes you just need some peace...
Philip Gulley's books give me a sense of peace, calm, and quiet seasoned with a generous helping of humor that always lets me end my day on a happier note. I've read most of his works and especially enjoy the characters who make me think, "I KNOW that person!" "Front Porch Tales" has joined my other favorite book, Clyde Egerton's "Walking Across Egypt" as my gift of choice to dear friends and loved ones.

excellent sense of humor
Philip Gulley does an excellent job of bringing us the stories of his life. He has a wonderful sense of humor and brings his relationship with God into perspective each time. He has a very interesting writing style that makes you want to know the man and read on. His other book is great too "Hometown Tales". I hope he puts pen to paper more often...

You'll read it over and over again!
I'm 13 and I'll admit I only bought this book because I had a gift certificate to a local Christian bookstore and I couldn't find anything to buy in the young adult section. But after being bored one day I picked it and it's dusty cover off of my bookshelf and started reading it. I'm glad I did. Philip Gulley writes in an easy manner that anyone can understand, even a teenager like me. His stories make you laugh, even though I don't think he tries to be funny. It just comes out natural in his writing. I've read the book twice and got my mom to read it and she liked too. I recommend this book to anyone who likes to read mini-stories, because that's what the book is. You can put the book down and not have to worry about remembering characters' names or other details. It's full of stories that will make you laugh and also warm your heart. So why are sitting here reading my review? Buy the book on Amazon today! If I'm 13 and I liked it, I think you'll like it too. Thanks for reading my review. Bye!
